Meet Walter. This big hunk of a street cat won the heart of a Detroit area colony feeder/TNR rescuer this winter with his gentleness, cute mew, purrrrsonality and affectionate nature. The rescuer found him a good home! That is, until the adopter, new to cat care/ownership, took him to the vet and discovered that sweet Walter had contracted a nasty virus outside called FeLV.

Even though this virus is NOT transmissible to humans and Walter was the only cat in the house, the adopter was going to have Walter euthanized!! Walter has been very healthy and may even have the form of FeLV that is regressive so that he could be healthy for a long time—possibly even for his lifetime (he’s still happy and healthy today!). The original rescuer was desperate to save this kitty and sent out a post for help. Time was ticking quickly for Walter so The Cat Connection sprang into action! Only one year old and sweet as pie with no sign of illness….why would he deserve to die?!

This great boy is a foster favorite and has now had all his vetting. He’s ready and waiting for a furever snuggle buddy—maybe you?

Recommended as an only cat or as a buddy for another FeLV cat (he likes other cats!), Walter is gentle, social, chill, and very deserving of a Good Life.
